Frequently Asked Questions
Is counselling helpful for people later in life?
Absolutely. Counselling can support older adults through life transitions, grief, loneliness, family changes, and emotional wellbeing — all of which are just as important later in life.
What kinds of issues do older clients talk about in counselling?
Common concerns include loss of independence, bereavement, retirement adjustment, strained family dynamics, chronic illness, and feeling disconnected or forgotten.
I’m not used to talking about my feelings. Will counselling still work for me?
You don’t need to have the “right words.” We go at your pace, and I’ll gently guide the conversation so it feels natural and respectful of your comfort level.
Is this just for people living on Phillip Island?
No — while I see clients in Cowes, I also support people from across the Bass Coast region via telehealth.
Can I bring someone with me to the first session?
That’s something we can discuss. Some people find it helpful to bring a support person initially. My priority is to ensure you feel safe and comfortable.

A Bit More About Priscilla
I grew up in the south-eastern suburbs of Melbourne and have always embraced change as a natural part of life. After completing university, I built a successful corporate career, started my own pet food business, then returned to the corporate world before deciding to follow a new path. I completed my Master of Counselling and haven’t looked back. Having navigated many transitions myself, I understand the challenges and opportunities that come with change.
With my husband moving into semi-retirement, we made our long-awaited move to Millowl, Phillip Island, where I’m enjoying a more balanced way of living and a stronger connection to the local community. I have two beautiful Old English Sheepdogs who keep me active, and I love getting outdoors with them to explore the island. Staying fit is important to me, and so is balancing time between family, friends, and solitude. I ride a motorcycle and have a passion for MotoGP, love cooking, and enjoy good conversation. Life is full of transitions, some planned, some unexpected, and I bring both professional expertise and personal experience to my counselling approach, offering a space where you can navigate your own path with confidence, clarity and understanding. |
